The word coaching is often considered negative in these days of people being put onto “coaching plans” in schools but it’s a serious and important role which I am proud to do.
I am fortunate to have the opportunity to be a coach on the NPQH programme, working with trainee and potential headteachers. I do look forward to every single session. There is a lot of passion and talent out there in the world of potential school leaders.
I have also done coaching as part of the EHP (Early Headship Provision) entitlement. I have set up coaching projects with students in schools and act as a coach to senior leaders independently, outside of NPQH too.
I have also acted as a creative coach to the whole Creative Arts department at Burnside School, in Wallsend, Newcastle.
I have also been a coach on the Northern Rock Leadership programme and in two north east schools where I work with SLT team members. I have also coached members of the Create team at Walbottle Campus too.
Coaching is enjoyable for coach and coachee. I am an accredited National College coach. In fact I have been involved in this work since 2004.
